Knowing the Symptoms of Testicular Cancer

Knowing the Symptoms of Testicular Cancer

According to health related organizations, testicular cancer is one of the easiest types of cancer to manage, but if not detected early can become life threatening. The star athlete Lance Armstrong suffered from testicular cancer but is now on remission. Testicular cancer is not common at all, however, the number of men being affected by this oncological disease has been noted to increase in the past years.

The exact causes of cancer in the testis has not been fully understood and known yet at present but there are conditions that increase the likelihood of having such disorder. Men who are born with a testicle that does not descend in the scrotum have a high risk for developing this form of cancer. Familial incidence of malignancy in the testicles, problems in conceiving a child, sexually transmitted infections and an episode of orchitis from mumps are other risk factors that are associated with the development of this cancer. The presence of genetic conditions such as Klinefelter’s syndrome, Caucasian race and exposure to hormones were also linked with the development of testicular cancer.

However, what is far more important is to be able to recognize the symptoms of testicular cancer. Initially, the individual will not manifest any symptoms of testicular or if any symptoms of testicular cancer are present, these are not specific to the reproductive organ that is why it is commonly ignored by men is a feeling of being unwell, episodes of getting tired easily, changes in appetite and changes in sexual pattern.

Noticing a swelling or a lump in a testicle that is hard, pea-sized and may have pain upon touching though occurs at a later time remains to be one of the early and the most commonly reported symptoms of testicular cancer. Thus, the importance of self testicular examination among men is stressed since they are the only ones who are likely to have a feel of their testicles regularly.

Aside from this, the individual may experience symptoms of testicular cancer such as a sensation of heaviness or pulling in the scrotum which tends to disrupt work and other activity, swelling or collection of fluid in the scrotum which may be referred as hydroecele, an aching feeling in the lower abdomen or the groin, intermittent feeling of pain in the scrotal area, and at times, a discomfort in the testicles.

There are also very uncommon symptoms of testicular cancer that are reported by some men such as tenderness or discomfort of the breasts, pain felt at the back and waist, coughing, changes in respiratory pattern such as shortness and difficulty of breathing.

When any of these things are noticed, it is important to schedule a visit with the physician as soon as possible. Testicular cancer can be resolved by immediate medical intervention at a rate of 95% if the disease is detected and halted at an early stage. One must not be afraid of performing self examination of the testes or asking for help in case one does not know how to perform such procedure – it is better to feel dumb than to suffer the grave consequences of testicular cancer.

A Few Things on Muscle Spasms in Back

A Few Things on Muscle Spasms in Back

The back is one of the parts of the body that is almost made up of muscles, which are some of the strongest muscles in the body. However, back muscles are also one of the muscles that regularly experience stress from the performance of daily tasks and activities. One of the commonly seen manifestations of this stress is having muscle spasms in back.

Muscle spasms in back may sound like a very serious and concerning condition, but these back muscle spasms are only warning signs that there must be an underlying musculoskeletal problem present in the individual. These spasms are the result of too much stretching or tearing of the muscles such as straining or increased tension in the muscles like in prolonged sitting or bending of the back.

The muscles spasms in back arise from the inflammation of the torn, strained, pulled or stretched back muscles. The muscles are placed in a compartment where the space allotted for expansion of the muscles is only limited. Hence, when the inflammatory process begins the muscles tend to feel compressed thus spasms or uncontrolled movement of the muscles occur. It is also accompanied by pain in the back that may be moderate to severe in intensity plus difficulty in movement especially those that involve lifting something or twisting of the body. Most of the time, muscle spasms in back do not radiate to other parts of the body, but it is the feeling of soreness which can be felt in other areas, especially when touched.

Muscle spasms in back tend to recover in a couple of days to a week since the inflammation subsides already. The healing process can happen faster if rest or a break from the activity because blood supply is promoted in the muscles so that the needed nutrients and oxygen is delivered well.

Another means of relieving muscle spasms especially if it is caused by injuries would be the use of hot and cold applications. An ice pack may be placed on the affected area intermittently for the first two days of the injury since cold temperature tends to numb and reduce the pain in the muscles allowing the individual to move and perform such tasks while the muscles are slowly healing. On the third day, warm compress is placed on the back to increase the supply of blood in the muscles and soothe the discomfort.

If the muscle spasms in back can be tolerated by the individual, stretching exercises may be done to alleviate the discomfort. A commonly advised routine includes sitting down, standing then lying down – which can be repeated up to ten times. Massaging the affected area through long but gentle strokes can also reduce the discomfort of the muscle spasms.

Muscle spasms in back can be managed very easily however, when one notices that the spasms tend to become more frequent, the pain intensifies and bruising or changes in sensation occurs – it is important to visit your doctor so that more appropriate management of the spasms can be provided.

Liver Pain? Here’s What To Do

Liver Pain? Here’s What To Do

The liver is regarded as the largest visceral organ of the body, and performs vital functions in the body from the breakdown of food components into nutrients, removal of body wastes, and it even plays a significant role in the immune system of the body. An interesting fact about the liver is that it is one of the few organs in the body that can regenerate again, making it able to tolerate some degree of injury. However, when liver pain is felt by an individual, it means that a serious problem is indeed present in the body.

Liver pain is characterized by an aching or discomfort in the upper right aspect of the abdomen since this is where the liver is located. The pain may either be dull or very sharp depending on the reason of the pain; may radiate to the back, and it is also described as intermittent in duration. An important thing that must be emphasized is the fact that liver pain cannot be mistaken for abdominal pain since the discomfort arising from liver disorders is concentrated in an area just below the rib cage and the pain radiates to the abdominal area. The characteristic of liver pain depends on the cause of the discomfort – continuous pain is related to increased pressure on the capsule that covers the liver; sudden, sharp and continuous pain is associated with direct trauma or injury to the liver; and dull pain is usually associated with inflammation of the liver.

Another thing that must be noted is that liver pain does not only occur alone, it is accompanied by a multitude of other signs. Skin changes are very much common like the body starting to become yellow in color, the presence of rashes and blemishes that are brown to blue in color, itching of the skin and inflammation of palms and soles. The eyes also tend to become yellow in color with swelling and itching of the area surrounding it. Aside from these changes that can be observed at a glance, the individual may also manifest too much sweating, foul smelling breath, body odor that is unpleasant, easy fatigability, changes in breathing, and disorientation. Nausea and vomiting; enlargement of the abdomen and inability to tolerate certain types of foods are also other accompanying symptoms to pain in the liver border.

Unlike other symptoms, liver pain is a very serious matter and must be consulted with the physician or any health care provider as soon as possible. This sign can be attributed to a lot of metabolic problems hence; diagnostic tests and physical examination must be undergone in order to identify the exact reason for experiencing this type of pain and thus provide the right kind of management to address the problem. This sign is linked to hepatitis or inflammation of the liver, inflammation of the stomach or gastritis, inflammation of the pancreas or pancreatitis, fatty liver disease, abscess and infection of the liver, chronic alcoholism, stones in the gallbladder, ascites and even malignancy.

Managing Arthritis in Hands

Managing Arthritis in Hands

The hands would have to be included if we are to make a list of the body parts that are constantly abused and experiencing stress on a regular basis. The hands will be used as soon as one gets up in bed to wash the face, eat, do some personal hygiene and a lot of other things. However, at the same rate where a lot of people are constantly tiring their hands, there are 2 million Americans who are suffering from the decreased ability to use these extremities as a result of arthritis in hands.

The long term effects of arthritis in hands are exemplified by slow hand movement, inability to hold things for a long time especially very small ones and are unable to lift anything that weighs beyond 10 pounds. There are also some people who suffer from swan neck deformities or the severe stiffness of the hands where they are so bent like the neck of the swan. But, these chronic and debilitating effects of the condition can be avoided as soon as prompt medical intervention is performed at the early stages of the condition.

The first thing that must be accomplished is to recognize that one might be developing arthritis in hands. People have varying symptoms but a sign that is seen in almost all of the clients would be the presence of joint pains. The pain may be felt in all the joints of the hands including the thumb and the fingers as seen in osteoarthritis because the cartilage wears down causing less smooth motion of the joints. There are some who experience the pain after sleeping or a prolonged time of not moving such as seen in orthopedic problems which are autoimmune in nature like rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, where the discomfort is usually felt on the distal joints or those near the fingernails. People who are suffering from gout tend to experience the pain after an intake of a diet rich in purine such as beans and chocolates.

Accompanying symptoms of arthritis in hands aside from difficulty and discomfort upon movement of the hands include the growth of knobs or nodules on the joints of the fingers, episodes of swelling and redness of the joints, loss of sensation in the hands, clumsiness and inability to open lids and caps of jars.

When these manifestations are experienced, it is important to have a visit with your doctor so that appropriate advice may be given to manage arthritis in hands. The usual intervention that is done would be the application of heat so that the muscles are soothed and the pain reduced. People who suffer from hand arthritis due to degeneration of the cartilage prefer a paraffin bath on the fingers, while those with gout are relieved through warm compresses.

Hand exercises are also instructed so that the end effect of stiffness and contractures from arthritis in hands may be avoided. Shaking the hands, opening the palms with fingers fully stretched out and then making a fist, squeezing a rubber ball, and gently stroking the fingers from the hands to the fingertips are just some of the common routines to promote range of motion in affected hands.

Aside from these, medications and dietary modification may be provided by the health care provider depending on the cause of the problem.

Knee Joint Pain Explained

Knee Joint Pain Explained

Knee joint pain is one of the very common reasons why adults are going to their health care providers for a medical consultation. Most of the stress encountered during the day’s work are felt and placed on the knees – whether your job is sitting on your office chair for eight hours where the knee remains flexed for a long time, working as an athlete which involves hours of working out, running and other strenuous activities; or simply accomplishing household activities. The knees experience a lot of tension such as the pain in the knees which seems to be a usual and commonly ignored discomfort.

There are factors that predispose a certain individual towards a higher inclination of experiencing knee joint pain than other people. Age is one of these factors – since as one ages, one would have a decreased strength of the joints and ligaments causing discomfort in certain positions and activities. The presence of other nutritional disorders like parathyroid and renal problems tends to compromise the strength of the different bones in the body including the knees; and other related disorders such as gout and other traumatic injuries.

When one decides to seek professional advice from the physician, it is important to be able to tell the complete details of the discomfort so that the best and most appropriate management can be given to alleviate the discomfort. The first thing commonly asked would be where exactly the knee joint pain felt is. Is it in front of the knee which may be indicative of problems in patella or kneecap? Is it felt most at the sides of the knee or inside of the knee which is typically seen in musculoskeletal injuries such as stretching of the tendons, tearing of the meniscus or arthritis; or if the pain is felt at the back of the knee which is seen in prolonged sitting and the presence of a fluid filled cyst in the area.

Another thing that must be noted is the timing of the knee joint pain – whether it is felt in the morning after waking up such as in rheumatoid arthritis, initiated upon walking down stairs like in kneecap disorders, or initiated by movement such as in osteoarthritis or knee injuries. The duration of the pain must also be noted since short term pain is commonly due to stretching of the tendons and muscles surrounding the knees, while pain felt for more than a couple of months is indicative of chronic conditions such as arthritis or gout.

Other symptoms that accompany the knee joint pain must also be mentioned to the physician since it may also indicate the condition that causes the discomfort. Swelling of the knees is very much expected in conditions such as knee injuries and stretched ligament with the inflammation commonly seen on top of the kneecap or at the sides, and extends through the legs. Swelling that is due to osteoarthritis and gout is mainly concentrated on the knees but the inflammation skips to other joints such as elbows, wrists and fingers.

Knee joint pain may be common and tolerated by a lot of people, however, medical help must be sought as soon as the swelling does not subside and the pain intensifies.

The Solution for How to Stop Hair Loss

The Solution for How to Stop Hair Loss

How to stop hair loss is a question asked almost every day. Why? Hair loss affects 40% of the population. It is evident that women are the most affected but men suffer too. To get a better understanding on how to stop hair loss, identifying the main culprit must first be discussed.

Genetics is the easiest cause that can be identified. If the parents of the person affected have similar problems, then it is possible that he/she inherited it from them. Another cause of hair loss is stress. It is medically proven that both physical and emotional stress can result to hair loss. Diet can also lead to hair loss. Consuming a lot of fat and salt in a diet can cause the kidneys to produce an acidic blood which will cause hair loss. Natural hair loss also may occur. It is important to know that a human shed around 100 strands a day. Remember that the hair has a life span of 4½ years. Now that the main causes of hair loss are identified, ways on how to stop hair loss can now be tackled.

Massage the scalp for better circulation. Hair follicles are stimulated when there is a good circulation in the scalp. Use the hand to massage the scalp and use drops of lavender oil for better results. Treating the hair with hot oil stops hair loss since it can moisturize the hair. It is always better to use natural oils. Be aware that the amount of heat applied is crucial. Make it a point to check whether the temperature is just warm and not too hot. Improve the treatment by massaging the oil into the scalp.

Wash the hair regularly to keep infections away. Use a gentle shampoo for the hair. Strong shampoos have chemicals that can harm both the hair and the scalp. Instead of rubbing the hair with a towel, try patting it to remove the excess water. Do not comb the hair when wet. This will lead to split-ends and weakens the hair. Tangles must be removed using the hands and not by a comb. Use a wide tooth kind of comb to remove tangles when really needed. Stop the urge to comb the hair frequently. The hair will be damaged and will lead to further hair loss.

Having a protein rich diet is another way how to stop hair loss. Since proteins are found in the hair, it is essential to consume protein from low fat sources. However, not all protein rich foods can help. Instead of eating a steak, eat leaner proteins. It is advisable to eat fish and chicken. Dairies such as egg, milk and yogurts are also rich in proteins. Aside from proteins, iron can also promote good blood circulation. For hair to properly grow, the scalp must have a good blood circulation. The best source of iron is not from livers but from raisins, eggs and cherry.

There will always be people who are easily threatened by hair loss. Keep in mind that everyone experiences this. Before he/she panics, see to it that he/she must first observe the amount of hair lost every day. If severe hair loss is experienced, consult the doctor immediately as it may be a symptom of a disease.

The Best Ways on How to Deal with Anxiety

The Best Ways on How to Deal with Anxiety

Anxiety is a common feeling for everyone. It has already become part of anyone’s life. However, there are some cases when one worries too much. If this does happen, it can affect his/her normal routine. It would be a shame to worry all day and do nothing at all when there are ways to cope with it. So here are some tips and ways on how to deal with anxiety.

  • The simplest way on how to deal with anxiety is too think positive. By being optimistic, the mind won’t focus too much on the things it is worried about. Thinking about beautiful and good things instead can ease that anxiety. The more the mind thinks about a problem, the more the mind experience anxiety.
  • Relaxing both your mind and body will reduce anxiety. The best way to relax is to breathe deeply. There is an explanation to this. When breathing deeply, nerves from your diaphragm and brain also relax. These nerves will then tell other parts of the body to relax. Moreover, when the body relaxes, the mind can easily relax as well.
  • Spend time with loved ones and friends. The thought of having them around can give security and assurance. This will lessen the degree of anxiety felt. Being with them can distract the mind and make it less worried. They can also help with the problem that started this anxiety.
  • Instead of worrying, why not find solutions for it. Looking for the solution can further analyze the problem and perhaps it may not be that worrisome. Sometime the mind over exaggerates the problem. Analyzing it properly can help separate the real and exaggerated facts. But once the solution is found, the feeling of anxiety will surely go away.
  • Combining a proper diet and enough sleep can make the mind and the body stronger. By doing so, the brain can accommodate stress, problems and anxiety better than those who don’t do this. Consuming caffeine will only make anxiety worse so choose fruits and vegetables instead.
  • Exercising is a great distraction for the brain. When exercising, the brain will focus on the task the body is doing and not on the problems it is worried about. It can also energize the brain giving it more power to fight anxiety.
  • One of the best ways on how to deal with anxiety is to actually face the problem. Try looking for the root of the problem. In many cases, the mind takes simple problems and over processes it. This makes the outcome more complicated when in fact it is not. It is best to do this at the start in order to avoid the whole cycle of anxiety.

Feeling anxiety is normal and can be dealt with. There will always be ways on how to deal with anxiety so don’t make anxiety a hindrance to one’s work.  However, if continuous anxiety is experienced, it may be an anxiety disorder.  Contact a doctor to evaluate the disorder and receive proper treatments to cure it.

Coppola keratin treatment : The Latest Treatment for a Straighter Hair

Coppola Keratin Treatment : The Latest Treatment for a Straighter Hair

Part of a woman’s image is her hair. Having a frizzy hair is a woman’s worst nightmare while others are simply tired of their dry and curly hair. A solution to these problems is through a Coppola keratin treatment.

Coppola keratin treatment will make the hair smooth and can make straightening an easy task. Frizz in curly hairs will be removed while giving it a nice bounce. Ethnic hairs are also not a problem since it works for all types of hair. But what really makes the treatment successful is the keratin found in it. Keratin is the main building blocks of the hair. The Coppola keratin treatment restores the lost keratins in the strands of the hair. This will repair damaged hairs and make it even shinier and smoother.

Like every treatment, there will always be pros and cons. The advantage of using this treatment is it does not use Formaldehyde as one of its ingredients. Formaldehyde is a dangerous substance that can cause eye irritation since it is originally a toxic. Compared to other popular treatments, it uses lesser and safer chemicals making it less irritating when used. It even last longer since it uses keratins instead of strong chemicals which can be easily removed. Its greatest advantage perhaps is that it is much cheaper. Though it costs less, it can outperform similar treatment.  This treatment is also safe enough to apply to previously relaxed hair. It also extends the color of the previously colored hair but wait for at least 17 days before applying a new color to the hair. However, the main disadvantage of this treatment is that the hair should not be washed or exposed to moisture for 3 days. The hair must also be kept straight during that time span.

{Coppola Keratin treatment} can be done at home with the right equipment. A blow dryer and a flat iron will be needed. First wash the hair thrice with shampoo then blow dry it. Let the hair rest for about 20 minutes then blow dry it again to remove excess water. It is important that the hair is blow dried thoroughly for the treatment to work. Apply the treatment to the hair layer by layer and comb it at the same time. Cover with a shower cap and let the hair absorb the treatment for 25 minutes. Dry the hair again with a blow dryer. When dried, raise the temperature of the flat iron to 450 C. Use it to straighten the layers of the hair. Avoid getting the hair wet for 3 days. If in some case the hair got wet, use the blow dryer to dry it immediately.

When Coppola keratin wears off, it will not leave any mark unlike other treatments. The hair will be uniformed leaving no trails of undergoing a straightening process. The treatment can also be done every 3 to 4 months. To maintain it, use Coppola keratin shampoos and conditioners. The treatment will last even longer when the hair is maintained with the Coppola keratin products.
